Indo-Chinese foodin Glasgow.
Nukkad Café serves Indo-Chinese food in Glasgow’s Merchant City: chilli chicken, Gobhi Manchurian, Hakka noodles and chilli paneer, wok-fired to order at 51 Bell Street. It’s the garlicky, soy-glazed, chilli-hot cooking that grew out of Kolkata’s Chinese community and became a favourite across India.

What is Indo-Chinese food?
Indo-Chinese is Chinese cooking as India fell in love with it. It took shape in Kolkata, where a Chinese community, many of them Hakka, adapted their recipes to Indian tastes and Indian spice: more garlic, ginger and green chilli, sauces built on soy and vinegar, and dishes designed to be shared.
Some of its best-known dishes are younger than you might think. Chef Nelson Wang, born in Kolkata of Hakka descent, created Chicken Manchurian at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai in 1975, and the vegetarian Gobi Manchurian soon followed. Today you’ll find these dishes everywhere from Mumbai street carts to Bell Street. For the longer version, read the full story of Indo-Chinese food and Manchurian explained.
